  1. An X-ray is a band of electromagnetic 
  2. radiation in the wavelength range 10-11 to 
  3. 10-9m (between gamma rays and ultraviolet 
  4. radiation). Applications of X-rays make use 
  5. of their short wavelength (as in X-ray 
  6. diffraction) or their penetrating power (as 
  7. in medical X-rays of internal body tissues).  
  8. X-rays are dangerous and can cause cancer.
